Why Is Lenovo Laptop WiFi Not Working?

Lenovo laptops are built-in with the Realtek & Intel wireless adapters. Along with a static connection, it also adapts to quick wireless technology. So that as soon as you power on your laptop in a recognized network, it instantly connects to that WiFi.

But due to some unusual circumstances, sometimes, Lenovo laptop does not detect the WiFi network, due to which you do not see any network on the computer. Generally, such problems appear in the Lenovo IdeaPad or Thinkpad laptop.

Why Is My Lenovo Laptop Not Detecting The Wireless Network?

Generally, there are five reasons for WIFI not working on the Lenovo laptop:

  1. The wireless adapter is turned off.
  2. WLAN or windows registry services are not responding.
  3. The adapter’s driver is outdated or corrupted, and
  4. Wireless Driver is missing from the computer.
  5. Internal files are corrupted in the network.

How Do I Fix Lenovo WIFI Not Working Problem?

When WIFI is not working on the Lenovo IdeaPad/ ThinkPad laptop, You should reboot the computer once. Now recheck the network settings? Is your computer detecting the network or not?

If the WIFI Lenovo laptop is still not detecting the network, you need to follow the steps below.

Turn On The WIFI

When the Lenovo laptop doesn’t detect the WIFI network, please enable the WIFI services on the computer.

Enable the wifi adapter

  • Press the Windows + X button on the keyboard.
  • Click on the Settings.
  • Now press the Network And Internet button.
  • Click on the WiFi option.

If WiFi is disabled, you need to turn it on by pressing the toggle button.

Disable the Airplane Mode-

If you have activated the airplane mode in the windows 11 computer, you won’t see the wireless & ethernet networks. In that case, you have to turn off airplane mode.

Airplane mode

  • Go to the Settings.
  • Click on the Network & Internet.
  • Press the Airplane Mode.
  • Turn off the AirPlane.
  • Click on the Turn Off.

Finally, the laptop window will be turned on. You need to update the driver on the laptop.

Enable the wireless adapter –

Some Lenovo users accidentally turn off the wireless adapter in their laptop because when they click on the network icon, they are unable to find the WiFi on the computer.

That’s why you should also check if you have disabled the WiFi adapter by mistake. You have to go to Network Connections and check the adapters to do this.

If your wireless network is grayed out here, it means that the adapter is disabled. That’s why the Lenovo laptop can’t detect the WiFi network.

In such a case, you need to enable the adapter by following the instructions below.

  • Open The Run Box (Press Windows + R button).
  • Enter NCPA.CPL in the run box.
  • Press the Ok Button.
  • If your WiFi adapter is turned off, you need to right-click on it.
  • Now click on the Enable button.

Once your adapter is enabled, you need to right-click on it and press the connect/disconnect button. Let’s check if it detects the WiFi now or not?

Update the WiFi Adapter –

Lenovo WiFi is not working in most cases because of the outdated/corrupted files. To fix that error, you need to update the wireless driver on the laptop.
The wireless adapter will start detecting the network on the Lenovo laptop right after that.

Update wifi driver

  • Open the Run box again.
  • Enter the devmgmt.msc in the box.
  • Press the ok button.
  • Expand the network adapters.
  • Right-click on the wireless adapter.
  • Click on the update driver.
  • Select the search automatically for driver updates.
  • Once the update process gets completed, you need to press the finish button.

Rollback The Wireless Driver-

If Lenovo WiFi is not working after updating the driver, you should roll back to the previous version. To do that, you need to follow the instructions given below.

Rollback the driver

  • Press Windows + R key to Launch the run box.
  • Enter devmgmt.msc in the box.
  • Click on the OK button.
  • Double click on the wireless adapter.
  • Click on the driver tab.
  • Press the Rollback driver button.
  • Finally, press the ok button.

Restart the wireless service-

Sometimes, Lenovo laptops can’t detect the wireless network of the WLAN services when these services are not responding correctly.

  • Open the Run Box.
  • Type Services.msc.
  • Click on the Ok button.
  • Now Select the WLAN services.
  • Press the Restart button.

Reinstall the WiFi Drivers-

When WiFi is not working on the Lenovo laptop, you should uninstall the wireless driver from the computer. Now go to the wireless settings and install the new driver into the computer.

Uninstall the wireless driver

  • Open the Run box by pushing the Windows + R button.
  • Type devmgmt.msc.
  • Click on the ok button.
  • Right-click on the wireless driver, click on the uninstall device.
  • Now reboot your computer.

Update The Windows –

A couple of times, WiFi is not working on the Lenovo laptop because of the Windows Computer issues. Probably, the windows files are corrupted. So you need to go to the wireless settings and update the operating system.

  • Open the Settings on the windows computer.
  • Click on the Windows Update (in windows 10, you will see it under, update & Security)
  • Press the Check For Update button.
  • If you see any pending updates.
  • Press the Download & Install the updates button.

Factory Restore the windows settings-

If you have tried everything, but WiFi Is still not working in the Lenovo computer, you need to reset the computer to the factory settings. To do that, you need to factory reset the windows to the previous date, when the wireless adapter was working fine on your laptop.

  • Launch The Run Box.
  • Type CMD.
  • Click on the OK button.
  • Type RSTRUI.EXE and press the Enter button.
  • Now Select the Restore Point according to the date.
  • Press the Next button.
  • Now press the Finish button.
  • Once you will see the Popup window.
  • Click on the Yes button.

Once your adapter is enabled, you need to right-click on it and press the connect/disconnect button. Let’s check if it detects the WiFi now or not?
